The city, in five Sections
Bangalore is divided into four Sections, each named after a Mizo figure, with Lalzova Section covering Mysore and Mandya. Between them they name 219 areas of the city.

What a Section does
- Keeps the record of every member living in it.
- Helps members who are unwell or in difficulty.
- Acts first when there is a death — and tells BMA's leaders straight away.

The association's year
Six occasions are set down in the Danbu. The Executive Committee fixes the exact dates and publishes the BMA Calendar each year.
Vangpui Kut
BMA's flagship festival, held at the start of October — a full day of Mizo culture, food and performance in the city.
Parting Social
Held every March, to see off members who are leaving Bangalore for home.

Bangalore Mizo Association was founded on 8 April 1984. The date is marked every year.

Why the association exists, in the words its founders set down.
Keini Bangalore-a Mizo awmte hian kan hnathawhna leh zirnaah Zonunmâwi kan vawn zel a pawimawh a, chumi tihhlawhtlinna atan chuan Bangalore Mizo Association hi din a ni.
We Mizo living in Bangalore hold it important that Zonunmâwi — the good Mizo way of living — is carried on in our work and in our studies. Bangalore Mizo Association was founded to see that through.

More than a calendar
Most of what the association does never makes it onto a poster.
Chhiatni leh Thatni
In sorrow and in joy. ₹5,000 towards a coffin when a member dies, and a division of duties with the church agreed in advance — so that at the worst moment nobody has to work out who does what.

Six office bearers elected each March, an Executive Committee of no more than fifteen, and the standing sub-committees that do the work on the ground.
